About the Park
Thousand Islands National Park, formerly known as St. Lawrence Islands National Park, is the oldest national park east of the Rocky Mountains. It encompasses 21 islands and several mainland properties scattered along the St. Lawrence River, within the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve.
Park Location
History
Established in 1904, the park was created to protect the unique archipelago and its diverse ecosystems. It was renamed Thousand Islands National Park in 2013 to better reflect the natural area it represents.
Landscapes
The park features rugged shorelines, granite islands, and lush forests. The islands are remnants of ancient mountains, offering a picturesque landscape of woodlands and waterways.
Wildlife
